Prime Minister Rafik Al Hariri has been bestowed the prestigious Special Citation of the UN-HABITAT Scroll of Honor Award, 2004, for his outstanding and visionary leadership in the post-conflict reconstruction of Lebanon . He deserved the award for his achievements in planning, designing and executing projects, fundraising and restoring peace in Lebanon which has been destroyed in the 16-year civil war. His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, was awarded the Scroll of Honour in recognition of His Majesty's outstanding contribution to sustaining habitats and improving the quality of life of the people in cities and communities in Thailand.
