Saudi air forces intercept Jazan-bound ballistic missile

Riyadh, Aug.21 (BNA):  The Saudi Royal Air Defence today intercepted a ballistic missile which was launched by the terrorist Houthi militias from Yemen.

“The air defence forces detected the missile which was launched at 06:19 pm from the governorate of Amran in northern Yemen to target Saudi Arabia”, said The official spokesman of the Coalition  to restore legitimacy in Yemen Colonel Turki Al-Malki.

Col. Al-Malki said that the ballistic missile was launched deliberately by the terrorist Iranian Houthi militia to target densely-populated civilian areas in (Jazan), Saudi Arabia.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), ‏he said that the missile was intercepted and destroyed without causing any casualties, describing the hostile act as a blatant violation of articles 51, 52 of the International Humanitarian Law.

“This hostile act carried out by the terrorist Iranian Houthi militia proves that the Iranian regime is still providing them with advanced capabilities, in flagrant defiance of UNSCRs 2216 and 2231, with the main objective of threatening the Saudi Arabian, regional and international security”, he said.

He pointed out that the ballistic missiles which targeted densely-populated civilian areas represent a direct breach of the principles of the international humanitarian law.

The coalition said that the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militias have to date launched a total of 179 ballistic missiles targeting civilian- populated areas in Saudi Arabia,
