AOU business masters’ degrees denied accreditation
Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): The Higher Education Council (HEC) has decided not to accredit the business management Master’s degrees issued by the Arab Open University (AOU) – Bahrain Branch. The HEC General-Secretariat said that the academic degrees won’t be accredited until required documents are submitted by the AOU-Bahrain Branch.

CBB raises key interest rate
Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has decided today and effective immediately to raise its key policy interest rate. The CBB’s key policy interest rate on the one-week deposit facility is raised from 1.50% to 1.75%. The CBB has also decided to increase the overnight deposit rate from 1.25% to 1.50% and adjust both the one-month deposit rate from 2.15% to 2.40%, and the lending rate from 3.25% to 3.50%.

Bahrain’s national days celebrated
Paris, Dec. 13 (BNA): In celebration of the national holidays of the Kingdom of Bahrain on December 16-17 in commemoration of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmed Al Fateh, the 46th anniversary of the Kingdom’s accession to the United Nations as a full member and the 18th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.

King establishes Hawar Development Committee
Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa issued decree 77 of 2017 establishing the High Committee for the Development of Hawar Islands. Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) President His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa will chair the newly-established panel which includes as members, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and urban Planning, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the Economic Development Board (EDB) Chief Executive Officer, in addition to a number of businessmen who shall be appointed by the committee president.
