The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomes international media and hopes to provide an enjoyable and reliable service for all journalists travelling to Bahrain for work purposes through the Information Affairs Authority.

In line with many countries, there is a requirement for international media to register for a media visa ahead of their visit and provide a list of all the technical equipment that will be brought in to the country in order to clear customs.

International media includes journalists, reporters and accompanying crew members, all of whom should contact the Department for Foreign Media at the Information Affairs Authority to ensure smooth entry to the country and gain best access, where possible, to relevant spokespeople to whom they wish to speak.

The requirements for a media visa are as follows:
1- A letter, in Arabic or English, on company letterhead, from the director of your media organization addressed to the Department of Foreign Media at the Information Affairs Authority (email and fax number below). The letter should indicate your position and how long you intend to stay. Freelance international media should send a letter, in Arabic or English, from the media organization sponsoring the visit, on company letterhead signed by the Publisher/Assignment Editor, Editor-in-Chief or Bureau Chief, specifying the name and functional title of the journalist;

2-All journalists must complete the Application Form: International media visa before the date of intended travel, and return to or faxed to +973 17781400;
3-All technical equipment to be brought in to the country must be registered in advance and included on the Application form: International media visa' form.

Media that do not follow the correct procedure risk refusal of entry of either themselves or their equipment to the country.
