Shaikh Al Azhar confirms that Bahrain's security is part of Islam's security

Cairo, May. 11 (BNA) -- Sheikh of Al-Azhar University Mohammed Al Tayyeb confirmed that Bahrain will remain dear to Egypt, pointing out that whoever targets its security would be targeting Islam, asking God to prevent the conspiracy plot and strife.


This came after the press conference held in Cairo, in an interview with the delegation of the National Unity Gathering in Bahrain (GONU) headed by its President Dr. Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Mahmoud who breifed them on detailed facts of the recent crisis in the Kingdom.

Dr. Al Mahmoud affirmed that crisis in Bahrain were merely an issue of sectarianism and conspiracy rather than reform demands, which aimed at building a Shiite state and copying Iraq.


Sheikh Al Azhar expressed his sorrow to the events witnessed by Bahrain, announcing his visit to the Kingdom in the near future to extend help and support to the country which is considered an important part of Islam.

He presented all Al Azhar university’s facilities and means of support to the GONU that would further enable the ejection of any conspiracy plots and restore it ability of playing a vital role in servicing Islam.

For his part, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Undersecretary Mohammed Abdul Jawad conveyed the appreciation of the Foreign Minister Dr. Nabil Al Arabi to the noble stands of Bahrain under its wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in dealing with the recent crisis, quoting the FM Dr. Al Arabi saying: ‘The security of Bahrain lays behind a bright red line which no one is allowed to cross’

He also confirmed that the expected visit of the Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to Bahrain will affirm the unquestionable steady position of Egypt in support of Bahrai leadership.
