IAA President chairs projects committee

Manama, May 12 (BNA) Information Affairs Authority (IAA) President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed the authority’s keenness to keep up with the media revolution and technological advancement within a clear and comprehensive strategic plan. This plan he said aims at developing the media sector and the implementation of development projects that would reinforce the status of Bahraini media towards achieving its aspirations.

During the chairing of the projects committee meeting today, Shaikh Fawaz said that based on the strategic vision to safeguard the gains and achievements accomplished by the reform project along with the democratic process, several media and news programmes were endorsed. This he affirmed contributed effectively towards upgrading media work and reinforcing the media progress.
Moreover, the IAA President noted the successfully pilot broadcast of Bahrain HD channel as part of the Bahrain Television package on Arabast Bader 4 (Orbital position 26 degrees East). Within this context he directed officials towards the immediate commencement of high quality broadcasting at the news centre and important discussion programmes utilizing the new broadcasting system.
During the meeting several programmes, projects and action plans for the development of various facilities and departments of the IAA to benefit from hi-tech and advanced technology were reviewed. The meeting also addressed the digitization and preservation of radio and television archive materials along with repairing those that were damaged.
In conclusion, Shaikh Fawaz praised the efforts exerted by the various departments, stressing the importance of the continuation of such efforts to achieve aspirations and project the honourable image of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the prosperous era of His Majesty the King.
