Cairo, Aug. 6 (BNA)—The Republic of South Sudan has announced that it will recognize Palestine as an independent state when it applies for the United Nations membership. The decision was taken after Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon officially demanded Juba not to vote in favour of the application.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Sudan said in press statements that it is in the interest of his country to recognize Palestine and Israel as both of them recognized the Republic of South Sudan when it declared its independence on July 9, 2011. “Our stance is obvious. We will recognize any state that recognizes us,” he said. AOQ
