Manama,Feb. 22 (BNA) – Minister of Housing Eng. Basim bin Yacoub Al Hamer held today a meeting with a representative delegation from the Ministry of Public Works inthe United Arab Emirates and a number of Bahraini officials from different ministries and government organizations for updates on the Shaikh Zayed program that the Ministry of Works in the UAE is working on to provide social housing to nationals.
AlHamer welcomed the UAE delegation in Bahrain, valuing the quick response shown by The UAE Minister of Public Works Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nehayan to share the experience of the Shaikh Zayed Social Housing Program with officials in the Kingdom and the positive outcomes it has achieved in the past years.
The delegation then went on to present the program, which kicked off in 2000, and its achievements to date.
The presentation included available financial aid and grants and loans, the building of government housing units as well as the electronic criteria the program follows to asses and evaluate the needs of the applicants through a point system that takes into consideration the social level and state of the family as well as their financial circumstances to allocate priority within the system, something the Ministry of Housing in the Kingdom was studying to apply in the near future. The delegation also discussed the possible support and sharing scheme available with the housing units and loans that aim to support nationals who need more than the provided loan or grant from the ministry, adding that the scheme is an excellent way to tie both the government and private sectors, providing value added services to the clients and achieving customer satisfaction. The delegation concluded with presenting the projects and developments the programmes which are still in the planning or construction phase in either state of theart housing compounds or apartment buildings, as well as the environmentalmethods the program follows in construction.
