Riyadh, Oct. 28. (BNA) – Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif Al Zayani has backed the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's call on the UN to adopt a resolution that condemns any country or group that insults religions and prophets, noting that such a demand is the best way to put an end to some extremists' continuous blasphemous violations against religions and prophets.
In a statement to the Riyadh-based "Al-Watan" newspaper, published in today's issue, Al Zayani pledged that the GCC, as regional organisation, will cooperate with the UN and provide all needed support in order to implement King Abdulla's demand.

GCC Chief praised the values embedded in the annual address of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Heads of Haj missions regarding the need to reject division and fragmentation and promote peaceful co-existence between all sects, adding that they represent a message of peace that all world countries should reflect on in order to consolidate their security and stability.

Dr. Al Zayani also said that "GCC countries enjoy political, economic and social stability and we respect and want the same for our neighbours and the rest of the world, and it is their responsibility to treat us similarly and not interfere into our domestic affairs."
