Ramallah: Feb. 13 – (BNA)-- PLO member, Ahmed Majdlani, announced that the Palestinian Authority (PA) had conducted communications with Syrian regime officials in order to neutralize Palestinian refugee camps from Syria's own internal conflict.
Majdlani told the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that a high-profile PLO delegation led by the Department for Refugees' Affairs, Zakariya Al-Agha, had arrived recently in the Syrian Capital, Damascus, and conducted talks with Syrian government officials regarding the circumstances of Palestinian refugees in Syria and seeking to evict gunmen from the refugee camps in order to ensure the safety of civilians in the refugee camps and also discussed the issue of camp-displaced Palestinian refugees who had been compelled to abandon and flee from their homes during recent unrest. He added that they also discussed security procedures around the refugee camps and facilitating entry and exit into and out of the camps in addition to the case of Palestinians who had been proven not involved in the conflict in order to try to obtain their release and to settle the case of "wanted" gunmen who surrendered their arms.
Ahmed Majdlani stated that it was agreed that the PLO leadership will conduct communications with opposition leaders abroad as well as with countries which support them in order to neutralize Palestinian refugee camps because they do not constitute a part or a party in the conflict.
Mr. Majdlani also explained that they closely watched the circumstances of Palestinian refugees in Syria and visited some shelters which accommodate displaced Palestinian refugees in Syria. (IY)
