HM the King and British Queen Honour Showjumping Winners

London-May11(BNA)His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Her Majesty Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Elizabeth II today honoured the winners of the military showjumping championship, which was held at the Royal Windsor Great Park as part of the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa presented the British Queen with the Royal Team gift on her arrival to the Royal Hall along with HM the King.

Shaikh Nasser briefed the British Queen on the gift which was designed in Bahrain, depicting a miniature carriage, driven by Arabian horses, along with an artwork featuring Shaikh Salman and Windsor Forts linked by a genuine Bahraini sword..

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Her Majesty Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Elizabeth II watched the final round of the showjumping. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth then honoured the winners.

HM the King and HM the British Queen then presented the winners in the military showjumping championship with prizes. Bahraini rider Khalid Helal Al-Khatiri was honoured after clinching the second position in the military showjumping championship. Khalid Helal Al-Khatiri also finished third in the championship which was held yesterday.

HM the King paid tribute to the British Queen for the warm welcome, hailing her keenness on promoting bilateral relations. He described Bahrain’s participation as reflecting deep-rooted relations bonding the two friendly countries and peoples, stressing the importance of the event for Bahraini riders to gain experience and promote cooperation.

HM the King thanked the organisers for providing all facilities and ensuring the warm welcome for all the participants. HM the King also attended the Bahrain Arabian breed display of horses from the Royal Stables, expressing his admiration for the horse show as well as the participation in the grand festival in the UK.

HM the King then toured Bahrain’s pavilion, being held under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, and was briefed on man-made items showcasing home utensils made from palm-tree products, in addition to traditional pottery items.

Galali, Al-Fajri and Sound Art musical troupes staged folklore shows for the pavilion visitors who expressed their admiration. HM King Hamad paid tribute to the Ministry of Culture for its efforts , stressing the importance of cultural facets and artifacts displayed at the pavilion to promote the Kingdom and project its centuries-old civilization, development strides and ability to host major cultural, sport and artistic events.
