Deadline Set For Bahrain e-Content Award 2013 Projects

Manama-June-5(BNA) The Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) and eGovernment Authority (EGA) continued to receive the participations of the Public and Private sectors, and individuals in the Bahrain eContent Award 2013, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa - Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT.


This award forms an integrated framework of the World Summit Awards (WSA), which comes to showcase BIS’ commitment and initiatives towards promoting and encouraging creativity as well as supporting Bahraini innovators in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) and internet.

Chairman of the Award’s Organising Committee and BIS President, Mr. Nawaf M. Abdulrahman stated that the committee had announced the opening of registration for all citizens, ministries, governmental authorities, NGOs and the private sector, since Wenesday, 15th May and will continue to receive participations of eContent projects from organisations and individuals until next Thursday, 13th June, 2013.

Mr. Abdulrahman has emphasised that the award's main objective is to highlight and showcase the best eContent projects and achievments of innovative Bahrainis in the public and private sectors in the field of ICT applications.

Mr. Abdulrahman added that the projects participating in the award can include electronic content on a web site, electronic application, Information System Kiosk or any other types of digital content.

Mr. Abdulrahman further explained that the jury committee that comprises members of independent and impartial experts and professionals from inside and outside Bahrain, who experienced in various areas of e-Content will evaluate the submitted e-content projects on the basis of global standards recognised in this industry and adopted and endorsed by the World Summit Award (WSA), The selection process of the best eContent achievements in the Kingdom of Bahrain will take place via 9 different categories; Government and Open Data, eHealth and Environment, eLearning and Science, eEntertainment and Games, eCulture and Tourism, eMedia and Journalism, eBusiness and Commerce, eInclusion and Empowerment, along with eBanking.

Mr. Abdulrahman said that the Jury Committee will start evaluating the e-Content projects presented for the e-Content award once the submission time is over. Final results will be announced in the last quarter of this year in a special ceremony for the best eProjects, awards will be distributed and the qualifying projects for the Arab e-Content Award 2013 will be announced.
