Manama, November 29 (BNA) –In line with the implementation of the directives of HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, the Agriculture and Marine Resources organises the second edition of the Bahraini Farmers Market at Al-Budaiya Garden, to display local products.
The activities of the market kick off with the participation of 30 Bahraini farmers in a national marketing celebration till the end of May 2014, aiming at promoting the Bahraini agricultural production with its high quality and increasing farmers’ income based on an integrated marketing system, which achieves the aspirations of the Bahraini farmer.
Undersecretary of Agriculture and Marine Resources, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa said that the market aims at supporting Bahraini farmers and achieving their aspirations in light of the strong competitiveness that requires developing a local market specialised in supporting the marketing of the Bahraini farmers’ products.
Shaikh Khalifa added that conditions for participation include a registered agricultural license and displaying only products produced by a Bahraini. The product has also to be of a known source.
Shaikh Khalifa said that the second edition of the market included facilities for the farmers who wish to display various products and exchange their products together, in coordination with Agriculture Affairs.
He added that follwoing the success of the first edition of the market, HRH Princess Sabeeka, who is also the President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development to support Bahraini farms, gave directions to establish a permanent market for Bahraini farmers.
The market is open every Saturday from 8am until 12pm.
