HRH Crown Prince opens Bahrain International Airshow 2014

Manama, Jan. 16. (BNA) -- His Majesty King Hamad deputised His Royal Highness Prince Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister to open the 3rd Bahrain International Airshow, today, which features 108 companies from the civil aviation and air logistics industry.

His Royal Highness was received by His Majesty the King’s representative and Head of the Supreme Organizing Committee of Bahrain International Show, His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, alongside other members of the Supreme Organizing Committee and a number of their Highnesses and other key personnel.

Accompanied by guests and representatives of prominent companies attending the show, His Royal Highness visited a number of the demonstration stands in the display area, featuring cutting-edge aircraft and military and defense vehicles, as well as aviation technology.

During his attendance of the first day of the Airshow, His Royal Highness also launched Great British Week, a series of events over the course of week celebrating 200 years of longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

The launch was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, who emphasised the UK’s commitment to further enhancing its ties with Bahrain across a wide array of different fields.

In his opening address, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince highlighted the large number of companies representing British innovation and technology at the Airshow, and praised the organisers for their efforts to make the Great British Week a success.

In response, the Duke of York expressed his gratitude in His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s launch of Great British Week, and emphasised the longstanding ties between the two countries. The Duke of York also reaffirmed the mutual commitment by both countries to continue expanding coordination and collaboration in different fields.

Following the official opening, His Royal Highness also watched the aircraft displays by the Bahraini, Saudi and Emirati air forces, as well as by other air forces and civil and commercial aviation companies.

His Royal Highness went on to extend his congratulations to His Majesty the King on the success of the 3rd Bahrain International Airshow .

His Royal Highness also praised the Supreme Organizing Committee, headed by His Highness Shaikh Abdulla as well as the Minister of Transport and His Excellency, Kamal bin Ahmad and other members of the Organizing Committee on their success in hosting such a landmark event in the Kingdom, and attracting a significant number of leading aviation companies.

His Royal Highness emphasised the role of the Airshow in promoting the Kingdom as a hub for conferences and exhibitions in the region.

His Royal highness concluded by describing the Airshow as a versatile platform for business engagements and aviation enthusiasts, as well as providing a boost to the tourism sector in Bahrain.
