Khalid bin Hamad crowns Al-Khatri as National Day Endurance Champion

Manama, Dec20(BNA) National Guard Commander Lt. General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain Royal Endurance Team leader Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Al Khalidiya Stables leader Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the National Day Endurance Race Championship for a distance of 120km and qualifying for a distance of 80km.


Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad presented the prizes to the winners at the end of the race, led by overall number one Fahad Al Khatri.
Riding his horse Siba from Victory Stable of the Royal Team and coached by Ahmed Janahi, Al Khatri claimed the race title after finishing in a total time of 4:58:51 hours with an average speed of 24km/h.

He was followed by Rashid Al Rowaey riding his horse Tanga from Al Zaeem Stable of The Royal Team coached by Abdulhak Kaddouri. He had a total time of 5:10:31 hours with an average speed of 23km/h, while Hassan Mohamed Mashallah on his horse Derom from Al Khalidiya of The Royal Team coached by Raed Mahmood came third, finishing the race in a total time of 5:14:24 hours with an average speed of 23 km/h.

The National Day Endurance Race Championship saw the participation of UAE rider Mohammed Al Abbar from Al Reeh Stables of the United Arab Emirates. Al Abbar preferred to withdraw from the second stage because of pain to his horse.

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad praised the presence of Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa to follow up the National Day Endurance Championship; he also praised the great success of the race and the great results achieved by all the riders who participated.

Shaikh Nasser expressed optimism for the bright future in the upcoming races at local level after the excellent results seen during this race. He stressed that The Royal Team is always trying to discover talented riders in order to support the Royal Team. He congratulated the winners of the race and expressed appreciation for the efforts of all the committee members of the championship.

On his part, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the follow-up and support of Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa of the race, stressing at the same time that the support of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad had a deep impact in encouraging riders and raising their degrees of enthusiasm and seriousness, which reflected in their performance in the race.

He stressed his keenness to develop the endurance sport this season and praised all the efforts made by the committees in the preparation and setup for the National Day Championship, as well as the next races and others that will be held in the Bahrain International Endurance Village.

He said that the event was strong in all aspects, noting that future rides will be more powerful and exciting after the high levels provided by the riders in the first endurance races of the season.

For his part, race winner Al Khatri expressed his joy after the victory saying: "I'm very happy to win first place. The race saw strong competition from all the other riders, who were keen to provide high levels in order to win the title."

The results of all stages
Stage 1:
Fahad Al Khatri led the first stage after finishing in a total time of 1:10:58 hours, followed by Jaffar Mirza who finished the stage in a total time of 1:11:05 hours while Hassan Mohamed came third finishing the stage in 1:11:28 hours.

Stage 2:
Al Khatri continued to lead after finishing the second stage in a total time of 1:11:29 hours, followed by Jaffar Mirza who finished the stage in a total time of 1:11:29 hours. The UAE’s Rashid Al Abbar came third with a total time of 1:11:22 hours.

Stage 3:
Fahad Al Khatri remained first after completing the third stage with a total time of 1:02:34 hours, followed by Jaffar Mirza who completed the stage in a total time of 1:12:19 hours, while Rashid Al Rowaey came third in a total time of 1:09:42 hours.

Stage 4:
Fahad Al Khatri kept the lead after the end of fourth stage with a total time of 0:52:22 minutes, followed by Rashid Al Rowaey who came second in a total time of 1:01:13 hours, while Hassan Mohamed came third with a total time of 1:01:46 hours.
Stage 5:
Fahad Al Khatri completed the fifth stage in a total time of 0:41:24 minutes, he was followed by Rashid Al Rowaey who came second in a total time of 0:44:02 minutes, while Hassan Mohamed came third with a total time of 0:45:39 minutes..
