Sultanate of Oman's electricity, water production boosted

Muscat, Dec. 13 (BNA): The Sultanate of Oman's total production of electricity increased to more than 25.4 thousand GW, logging a 12.1% increase as at the end of September 2015 compared to the production recorded in 2014.

The same applies to the water sector in which the production grew to exceed 218.7 million cubic meters with an increase of 5.6% as at the end of August 2015, according to the latest statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The Sultanate's total electricity production till the end of September 2015 stood at 25.484.6 GW per hour, compared to 22.735.4 GW per hour in the corresponding period of 2014, constituting a rise by 12.1%.

The Sultanate's net electricity production till the end of last September 2015 reached 25.024.2 GW per hour, compared to the figures recorded during the same period of 2014, which reached 22.270 GW per hour with an increase rate of 12.8%.

This production includes the procurements of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the procurements of the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).

On the other hand, the Sultanate's production of water till the end of last August 2015 reached 218.732.200 cubic meters with an increase of 5.6% compared to the water production recorded during the same period of 2014, which reached 207.205.200 cubic meters.

The water production in the Governorate of Muscat increased with 68.8% to reach 100.404.400 cubic meters compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2014, which reached 59.483.500 cubic meters.

The water production in the other governorates decreased with 25.4% to reach 93.697.300 cubic meters compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2014, which reached 125.539.500 cubic meters, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported on Saturday.
