Arab League reiterates solidarity with Egypt, Iraq

Cairo, June 5 (BNA): The Council of the Arab League has expressed solidarity with Egypt and Iraq in the face of terror.
The extraordinary meeting of permanent delegates, chaired by Algeria, was held on Monday in the wake of the terrorist attacks that targeted the two countries recently.
In a statement, the council condemned in the strongest phrases the "treacherous and cowardly" attach the targeted a bus in the Upper Egyptian Minya Governorate last month claiming the lives of 29 people, among them women and children, and injuring many others, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
It expressed condolences over the victims, reiterating condemnation of all forms of terrorism and affirming its solidarity with Egypt in the face of such heinous terror attacks that target innocent people and violate sanctities.
The council also reaffirmed all countries' firm right to prevent any aggression against their communities, people, state institutions or government bodies, as well as their right to take the necessary measures to ward off any such threats against their security or safety.
In a similar statement on the recent attacks that hit Baghdad's central Karrada district and Al Shuhada Bridge, the council condemned in the strongest phrases the blasts that killed and wounded scores of people. Daesh terror group had claimed responsibility for the explosions, the news agency added.
The League reaffirmed solidarity with the Iraqi government and security forces and its support for the measures they might take to liberate the rest of the Iraqi territories still controlled by Daesh.
