GPIC's social development role praised

Manama, July 17 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Mohammed Humaidan has praised the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) plans to provide quality training opportunities to students during schools' summertime holiday as part of the its contribution to development and social services.

During his visit to the GPIC, the minister said he hoped these students would benefit from the specialized training programmes. He called on the trainees to invest their time during the summer vacations and develop their own professional abilities and to prepare themselves for integration into the labor market. He applauded the initiatives and programmes offered by GPIC to serve the community and support its institutions and individuals.

The minister said many major companies and institutions in Bahrain are providing such training programmes during the summer and provide opportunities and conditions that help students determine their future direction.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the company's plants and facilities as well as various community and development services. He was briefed by GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Executive Management on the different educational facilities to train in the students.


Dr. Jawahery also briefed the Minister on GPIC’s contributions to serve the local community, including contributing to the training and rehabilitation of the young Bahrainis in developing their own capabilities. He stressed on the importance of hosting an increasing numbers of students and trainees and providing qualified trainers, who would also monitor their performance during the training period.

GPIC, in the last few years, has taken great strides in the field of development and training in terms of quantity and content as part of its role in providing education and training and in supporting the overall development in Bahrain.

Practical training for students enrolled in local and foreign universities is also being provided in the company’s various departments according to their academic specialization in order to give them the opportunity to become aware of the requirements of the labor market. This would also introduce them to the real work environment and challenges posed by the nature of the company's work while expanding their knowledge and technical skills.

GPIC’s Academy of Leadership and Learning plays a pivotal role in the training process and the development of the company's staffs. The academy has the latest equipment, including a scale model of all factories. The students are trained by engineers and operators in addition to being exposed to simulator training, which enables them to monitor operations on different scenarios that may occur during actual operation.
