Khalid bin Hamad League’s semi-finals held

Manama, Sep. 12 (BNA): Abdul-Hameed Al-Najjar, Member of the Council of Representatives, Colonel Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al-Khayat, President of the Public Security Sports Federation, Bahrain Olympic Committee Board Member and President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation, attended the semifinals of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament of the Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, held for the fifth year under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.


The officials were received by members of the organising committee and met with the participating teams, referees and coaches. They visited the photo exhibition organised on the sidelines of the league and commended on the efforts paid by the organisers to hold the league on a yearly basis for the previous five years.

Al-Najjar valued the care and patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa of the Bahraini youth and sports movement by organising events that invest in their energies, improve their skills and talents and meet their interests such as HH’s annual futsal league, reflecting his care about local sports and athletes.

The MP asserted that the league represents a good opportunity for the youth to meet, compete, interact and exchange expertise in a brotherly atmosphere, as well as strengthening national cohesion and social bonds among them.

Al-Najjar also noted that organising such sports activities contributes to discovering Bahraini talents and develop their skills, praising HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and HH’s initiatives to empower the youth and support them.

Colonel Al-Khayat lauded HH’s support to the youth and sport movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, adding that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League has become one of the most popular sports events among the Bahraini youth, as it reflects the social and humanitarian initiatives of HH to strengthen cohesion and social bonds between the Bahraini youth who represent all of the areas, villages and towns of the kingdom, as well as integrating people with disabilities with all sorts of events and encouraging female athletes to engage in more activities.

The colonel highlighted that the league focused people with disabilities and female athletes, who represent important sectors of the Bahraini society.

He also appreciated the continuous efforts paid by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, headed by H.E Minister Hisham bin Mohamed Al-Jowder, to empower and support activities dedicated to the youth of Bahrain.
It is worth mentioning that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is jointly organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, under the slogan #Generations_Meeting and comes as part of the initiative of HH. Launched on July 24, the league will conclude on Sunday with the final matches of the three tournaments of the youth centres and unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls’ teams.

Sanad and Muharraq to Khalid bin Hamad League Final

The teams that will play in the final match of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament have been announced yesterday. The results of the semifinal matches of the tournament have finalised that Sanad Youth Centre and Muharraq Youth Centre will play in the final match on Sunday.

Sanad Youth Centre was the first to qualify to the final match after knocking out the underdog of the tournament Buqowa Youth Centre by a score of 5-3. While Muharraq Youth Cente qualified after smashing Sanad Youth Centre and winning them 6-4 in one of the most exciting matches of the league.

The organising committee awarded Sanad’s player Raed Baba for his exceptional performance in the match and Muharraq’s Ali Abdul-Rasool who scored three goals in his team’s match against Jidhafs.

The committee also announced that the matches to determine the third and fourth places of the three tournaments will be held today at the venue of the league, Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.

The first match of the day will be within the girls’ teams tournament between Team giving and Team Hope at 5:30PM. The second match will be in the people with disabilities tournament and will be between the Deaf Team and Bahrain Deaf Society Team at 6:15PM. At 7PM, Buquwa Youth Centre and Jidhafs Youth Centre will meet to determine the third and fourth places of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament.

The committee announced that the final day of the league has been changed to Sunday, September 17. The final matches of the three tournaments will be held on the same day. The committee added that all preparations for the final ceremony have been finalised. A draw on a brand-new car allocated for a lucky spectator will also be held on the final day.
