Microfinance lifted Bahrain’s marginal entrepreneurs to SMEs’
Arrackal Alexander M Manama, Sept. 4 (BNA) -- The history of institutional micro-financing in Bahrain begins with the establishment of the Family Bank, which ensured that marginal entrepreneurs – those with cottage businesses – were given the impetus to aspire higher and raise their prestige to that of the small and medium entrepreneurs, said the Minister for Social Development, Dr Fatima Al Beloushi.

Manama, Sept. 2nd (BNA) -- The Central Bank of Bahrain announced today that the Bahrain insurance market posted an annual growth during 2011, with gross premiums increased by around 2% over 2010 to register BD214.94 million in Bahrain Insurance Market in 2011.

BIC to Host All-New Racing Spectacle
Manama, July 31. (BNA) -- Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, announced on Monday (July 30) its plans for the upcoming Six Hours of Bahrain endurance race, scheduled to take place September 28 and 29 at the world-renowned desert track. The Six Hours of Bahrain is part of the all-new FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). It is the first time such an event will be held in the region, making it a spectacular addition to the Kingdom’s motor racing calendar. Following BIC’s official announcement recently that it will be staging the Six Hours of Bahrain, details of the two-day spectacle were revealed at a Press conference on Monday held at the circuit premises in Sakhir.

Manama, July 29. (BNA) -- Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) announced Sunday the release of its second quarter 2012 results. Commenting on the Q2 2012 results, Alba’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said: “Without LME & Gas Impact, Alba was able to maintain its intrinsic value. The company has successfully managed its working capital and was able to spin its Value-Added sales back to record levels – 67% as of Q2 2012 despite the downbeat sentiment of the global market as well as the downward trend of aluminium prices.

Councillors urge Bahrain to look at S’pore as model in housing and water utilization programmes
Manama, July 25(BNA) -- Bahrain could follow the Singapore model in the two areas of housing and water conservation, Ali Yacoub Al Moqla, Deputy Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council and head of the many housing committees in the council told the Bahrain News Agency. The finding comes after he along with Ghazi Al Murbatti and Ramzi Al Jalaleefa attended the World Cities Summit and Conference on Water Week International in Singapore.
