CMH and Novus aviation announces establishment of aircraft
Manama, April 24 (BNA) -- Capital Management House ("CMH"), the Bahrain based investment bank, in partnership with Novus Aviation and Muzun Partner Ltd today announced that it has acquired a Boeing 777-200ER airliner from Emirates Airlines. According to the terms of the agreement, the aircraft, fitted with Rolls Royce Trent 8900 engines, will be leased back to Emirates for a fixed six year-term. The lease agreement will be managed by Geneva based Novus Aviation Services, CMH’s partner in the transaction and a specialist in aircraft sourcing, trading, leasing and other related services.

Bahrain Adopts IBAN
Manama, April 20 (BNA) -- The Central Bank of Bahrain announced today the adoption of the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) - an international standard for the numbering of bank customer accounts in the Kingdom of Bahrain and accredited by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) to serve its customers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, starting from the end of January 2012. This move towards IBAN is to express bank customer account numbers in an ISO standard compliant format. The use of such an internationally accepted format will immensely improve the efficiency of electronic payments and bring a number of benefits to bank customers.

Demand for the Kingdom of Bahrain sovereign debt remained strong
Manama,April 19 (BNA) -- Demand for the Kingdom of Bahrain sovereign debt has remained strong during the first quarter of 2011 Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) announced today. The domestic issues of government debt, which the Central Bank manages on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, have remained heavily oversubscribed. Although interest rates rose slightly, they have now started to trend downwards again and remain at historically low levels.

CBB Sukuk Al-Ijara Oversubscribed
Manama, April 19 (BNA) -- The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) announces that the monthly issue of the short-term Islamic leasing bonds, Sukuk Al-Ijara, has been oversubscribed by 400%. Subscriptions worth BD40 million were received for the BD10 million issue, which carries a maturity of 182 days.

South Korean Corporate Bankruptcies Rise Again
Seoul, April. 19 (BNA) -- The number of companies that went belly-up totaled 120 last month, up 21 from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK). The number of corporate bankruptcies rebounded from a record low of 99 registered in February. According to BOK's monthly report published on South Korean News Agency Yonhap, the number of companies that went bankrupt reached 120 last month, up 21 from the record low of 99 registered in February.

S. Korea considers deploying new frigates near Dokdo
Seoul, April. 19 (BNA) -- South Korea is considering deploying new frigates near Dokdo to strengthen its sovereign control of the easternmost islets, after Japan has renewed its territorial claim to the East Sea volcanic outcroppings, a government source here said Today. According to South Korean News Agency Yonhap, the South's Navy is scheduled to receive a first batch of 2,300-2,500 ton frigates next year under a naval buildup project code-named "FFX." By 2018, a total of 20 new frigates will be put into service for anti-air and anti-submarine duties.

Obamas' tax return shows couple earned $1.8m in 2010
Washington, April 19 (BNA) -- US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama made $1.8m (?1.11m) last year, mostly through sales of the president's books, tax returns ,BBC reported. The couple's income dropped from $5.5m in 2009 and from $2.6m in 2008, a decline the tax documents attribute to slower book sales.
