Arab Summit postponed
Cairo, May 5 (BNA) The Arab League has announced in a statement today the postponement of the 23rd Arab Summit due to be held on May 10 and 11 in Baghdad. The summit has been put off till March 2012 at an official request by Iraq.

Egyptian Former Interior Minister sentenced to 12 years in prison
Cairo, May 5 (BNA)--Egypt's former Interior Minister Habib Al Adli was sentenced to 12 years in jail, state TV said today. Adli was convicted of money laundering and profiteering by the Giza Criminal Court. The former police chief was sacked shortly after the Jan. 25 mass protests which forced President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak to step down on Feb.11. Adli was the first senior official of the former government to get a sentence over corruption.

Confidential Foreign Ministry Report Calls Palestinian Reconciliation Agreement ‘An Oppotunity’
Occupied Jerusalem, May. 4 (BNA) -- An internal, confidential Foreign Ministry report advises that the creation of a Fatah-Hamas unity government in the Palestinian Authority would offer Israel a strategic opportunity. The views expressed in the paper are clearly counter to those expressed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since the reconciliation reached last week by the Palestinian factions. The reconciliation document is expected to be signed in Cairo today.

Abbas in Egypt to conclude unity deal
Gaza, May 4 (BNA) -- President Mahmoud Abbas arrived Tuesday to Egypt to announce the end of division and officially sign the Palestinian reconciliation. In his two-day visit, Abbas is set to make a statement during the ceremony as he is the president of the Palestinian state, the PLO and Palestinian Authority. Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Mahmud Al-Habbash, the president's spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh, and diplomatic advisor Majdi Al-Khaldi accompanied Abbas on his trip.
