Shaikh Nasser for GCC Olympic congress
Manama, March 27 (BNA) -- Senior officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) will start departing for Abu Dhabi today to attend the 25th congress of GCC Olympic committees commencing tomorrow. Supreme Council for Youth and Sports president and chief of the BOC Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will head the Bahrain delegation to Abu Dhabi. The UAE capital will host four meetings over the next four days, including the GCC Olympic Committees' presidents meeting to be held on Wednesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo expected to be fit to face Spurs
Madrid, March 24 (BNA) -- Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be fit to face Tottenham in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final in Spain on 5 April. According to BBC News, the 26-year-old pulled out of Portugal's upcoming friendlies against Chile and Finland with a hamstring injury he suffered on Saturday. But Real boss Jose Mourinho said: "With his mentality we think he'll make it [the Spurs game], but it'll be tight." Spanish league matches postponed because of TV dispute
Madrid, March 24 (BNA) -- The Spanish league season may end three weeks later than planned after the next round of matches was postponed because of a dispute over television revenue. Clubs want a law, which says at least one game a week must be on terrestrial free-to-air television, to be revoked, this was reported by BBC. But on Wednesday the Liga de Futbol Professional (LFP) cited a "lack of progress" in talks with the Spanish government to resolve the problem. As things stand, the games will be played on 12 June, that date is three weeks after the league season is scheduled to end.

His Majesty King Hamad Cup horse on Friday
Manama, March 22 (BNA) -- Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club has stepped up its preparations to host His Majesty King Hamad Cup horse racing event on Friday in Sakhir. Four races will be featured in the season's most prestigious horse racing competition. These races were due to be held last Friday but there has been a one-week postponement following recent security incidents in Bahrain.

Bahraini referees to run Khadhma and Khureeteyat
Manama, March 21 (BNA) -- The Bahrain Football Federation received an official letter from the GCC Organizing Committee requesting that Bahrain International Referee team including Ali Al Samaheeji, Khalid Al Allan, Ibrahim Mubarak and Jameel Jumaa to run a match between Al Kadhma Kuwaiti Club and Al Khureeteyat Qatari Club due to be held on Tuesday on 5th of April.
