Paris, Jan. 12 (BNA): At least 12 people were injured and dozens of windows were blown out after a powerful explosion destroyed a bakery in central Paris on Saturday morning.

The explosion, likely caused by a suspected gas leak, also smashed windows in buildings surrounding the bakery on Rue de Trévise in the 9th arrondissement of the French capital and damaged parked cars, according to reports.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told reporters at the scene that around 200 firefighters were mobilised to battle the fire and rescue residents in neighbouring buildings.
