Manama, Nov. 12 (BNA): Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco) refinery expansion project is moving ahead in the right direction, the company chairman said.
Dawood Nassif told the audience during the second day of the 18th Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference 2019 being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that almost 30 per cent of the project has been accomplished.
“This project is progressing in line with the expansion plans as we expect completion by mid-2022,” Chairman said, during a session titled “Embedding Industry 4.0 in Corporate Culture and Operations,” he said.
“This refinery will be one of the most advanced processing refineries in the world and not just in the region. We are very optimistic about as the financing has been closed this year and the project is progressing accordingly,” the Bapco chairman told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the Conference.
“It is a huge project by any international standards and it is being handled by the world class contractors. We are working on the North East block offshore. We also have other partners whom we will be announcing in the near future as we had signed MoUs with Total and Chevron. There are number of other partners those will be announced in terms of onshore and offshore; conventional and non-conventional gas.”
Dawood Nassif said it was an honour for Bapco to be part of the 18th Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference.
“It is also an honour for Bahrain to host this event which is of great significance for all the business activities in Bahrain,” he said.
