Manama, Nov.11 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received, at Al-Sakhir Palace, Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, who was accompanied by Tatweer Petroleum Chief Executive Officer James Kenneth Eastlack and Exploration and Development director-general Yahya Al-Ansari.
HM the King discussed with Tatweer Petroleum officials the developments of the strategic plans for exploration and development, which are implemented in accordance with the royal directives with the aim of strengthening the sources of national revenues.
HM the King commended the vital role played by the Committee on Natural Resources and Economic Security, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister , in cooperation with the Oil Ministry.
He hailed the efforts exerted by all workers in the industrial sector to develop the oil sector, hailing ambitious investment plans and projects aimed at enhancing the role of this vital field, which represents one of the main pillars of the national economy and the development momentum.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is determined to continue the development programmes in all sectors to serve the nation and meet citizens’ aspirations to decent living conditions”, said HM the King.
HM the King praised Bahrain's pioneering achievements in various fields thanks to the efforts of its loyal people, hailed the latest achievement which represented one of the largest oil discoveries in the Kingdom of Bahrain's history of shale oil and deep gas.
He commended the efforts exerted by the Oil Minister and Tower Petroleum to draw up strategic plans so as to benefit from the massive discovered of shale oil and deep gas.
HM the King to intensify efforts and projects to increase oil and gas production in the Bahrain, so as bolster its strategic standing as an economic hub in the region, boost the industrial sector and raise the standard of living of Bahraini citizens.
The minister updated HM the King on latest developments in the exploration and production of oil and gas in four main axes – Bahrain Oilfield output, deep gas production, Bahrain Bay shale oil development and drilling at the maritime concessions.
HM the King was updated about the latest developments in the drilling of a number of experimental wells to extract oil in commercial quantities, which will benefit the national economy and achieve the desired objectives.
The minister expressed deepest thanks to HM the King for his support to the sectors of oil and gas. He commended the Government’s directives to intensify the operations of exploration and drilling. He praised the crucial role Committee on Natural Resources and Economic Security, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. Gifts were presented to HM the King on this occasion.
