BACA President starts UNWTO nomination campaign

Manama, Dec.4 (BNA): Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa has embarked on  a tour to meet leading officials after her nomination for the post of World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General.


She met in Cairo Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit and Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khalid Al-Anani.


The Kingdom of Bahrain has nominated (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa for the post of UNWTO secretary-general in recognition of her achievements in the sector of sustainable tourism and her pivotal role in promoting cultural tourism.


Shaikha Mai has outlined her vision and strategy which consist of seven axes to advance this vital sector globally, with a focus on activating its role in achieving development and reaching the United Nations sustainable development goals.
