Bahrain signs cultural agreement with USA

Manama, Dec.30 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has today signed a memorandum of Understanding with the United of Understanding to to step up joint cooperation in the fields of cultural heritage.

 

Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa sealed the deal with The U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad President Chairman Paul Packer, who toured sites in Muharraq on the sidelines of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

The two sides stressed the importance of respecting the values of understanding, tolerance and friendship between nations, different ethnicities and various religious groups, as all cultures represent the common heritage of humanity.

 

This memorandum also confirms the work of the objectives of the UNESCO Convention regarding the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage 1972.

 

The agreement includes nine articles that focus on respecting basic human rights and promoting concepts of tolerance and friendship between states, different ethnicities and diverse religious groups, in addition to promoting and protecting the cultural heritage in both countries.
