Washington, Oct.12 (BNA): Goldman Sachs executive Dina Powell has withdrawn as candidate under consideration to succeed Nikki Haley as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a US Administration source said.
President Trump had been talking to Powell about the position since Haley announced, this week, plans to resign at the end of the year.
Powell served the Trump White House earlier as a deputy national security adviser, before rejoining Goldman this year and serves on the bank’s management committee.
The US president said that many candidates want to hold the position as ambassador to the United Nations.
Reuters quoted a source saying that President Trump had several other candidates for the job of representing the United States at the United Nations.
