Exhibition showcasing Aga Khan Award winners opened

Manama, Nov.25 (BNA): An exhibition showcasing the winners of the Aga Khan Architecture Awards 2019 opened today in Muharraq.

 

The Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research board of trustees’ chairperson Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, friends of Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, diplomats and media figures attended the opening ceremony at the Architectural Heritage Home.

 

The event which runs until February 25, showcases six recipients of the Aga Khan Architecture Awards 2019 - REVITALISATION OF MUHARRAQ (BAHRAIN), ARCADIA EDUCATION PROJECT (BANGLADESH), PALESTINIAN MUSEUM (PALESTINE), PUBLIC SPACES DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ALIOUNE DIOP UNIVERSITY TEACHING AND RESEARCH UNIT (SENEGAL), and WASIT WETLAND CENTRE (UAE).

 

A total of 116 projects won the award ever since it was first launched 42 years ago, in addition to the documentation of more than 9000 construction projects and installations.
