HM King welcomes heritage sports preservation

Manama, Jan. 9 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today at the Safriya Palace received Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, accompanied by the three top winners of the Heritage Knight Competition, which is a major competition of the Popular Heritage Sport Committee. 

HM the King congratulated the three winners and praised their performances in the competition, which reflect their advanced skills, wishing them more successes to come. 

HM the King expressed appreciation of HH Shaikh Nasser’s continuing efforts to hold sport activities target promoting principles of belonging and patriotism and the consolidation of the genuine Bahraini identity, which encourage the youth to revive the heritage of ancestors. He also lauded the broad participation of the contenders and the large spectators’ turnout throughout the competition stages. 

HM the King stressed support for initiatives to preserve the national heritage and sports to attract the youth to practice them, as they are an integrated part of the genuine Bahraini identity. 

The three winners expressed gratitude to HM the King for his support and encouragement. They also expressed thanks to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad for his initiatives to revive the popular heritage sports.
