Manama, Mar. 4 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), patronised today the opening of a heritage exhibition organised by Bahrain Society for Women Development under the theme “Vision and History at the Palace of late Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in Gudaibiyah.
HRH Princess Sabeeka stressed the importance of holding such specialised exhibitions which cast light on national heritage and preserve it as an inherent part of Bahrain’s identity. She pointed out the need to inform the youth about their rich folkloric heritage and boost their sense of belonging. She underlined the symbolic importance of holding the exhibition at the palace of late Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for it represents an essential part of the kingdom’s glorious history.
HRH Princess Sabeeka toured the exhibition which sheds light on the Bahraini traditional dress and its evolution. She stressed the dress’ symbolic importance for the Bahraini people, lauding the efforts of Bahrain Society for Women Development in holding the exhibition and other programmes.
Head of the Productive Families Development Projects at the Bahrain Society for Women Development Shaikha Aisha bint Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa affirmed the society’s keenness to boost women’s skills in various fields, pointing out Danat project which won the award of HRH Princess Sabeeka as the best sponsor of productive families in 2007.
