HRH Princess Sabeeka receives Alwaleed Philanthropies Secretary General

Manama, Mar. 28 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), received today Alwaleed Philanthropies Secretary General Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia bint Majid Al Saud. She welcomed her, lauding the political will in boosting the Saudi women’s contribution to the prosperity of their nation. She also praised the efforts of Alwaleed Philanthropies over the past 40 years in carrying out comprehensive development projects.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka highlighted the role of SCW in following up on progress of Bahraini women and the high-level political support given to it, considering it an official consultative body for His Majesty the King who issued his directives to endorse the National Women Empowerment Strategy. The strategy is considered the first of its kind in the region to be endorsed by the chief of state, which paved the way to work with all government institutions to boost women’s participation in the development process.

 

HRH Princess Sabeeka highlighted the role played by SCW in benchmarking competitiveness of Bahraini women locally and internationally. She pointed out Bahrain’s initiative in launching an international women empowerment award after the positive results brought about by the national one in encouraging institutions to integrate women’s needs and boost their participation in development.

 

The SCW Secretary General Hala Al Ansari gave a presentation on the mechanisms of the national equal opportunities applications governance model.

 

HRH Princess Lamia lauded the efforts of SCW, under the presidency of HRH Princess Sabeeka, pointing out keenness of Alwaleed Philanthropies to avail of Bahrain’s pioneering experience in women’s empowerment.
