HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Chairs Weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, Dec. 6 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting, at Gudaibiya Palace.


The Cabinet noted HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's attendance at the first edition of the Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.


The Cabinet congratulated Saudi Arabia for successfully hosting an important and eventful international race and praised the efforts of Bahraini motorsport personnel in supporting their Saudi Arabian counterparts in organising this significant global sporting event.


The Cabinet noted the launch of the Muharraq Grand Park under the patronage of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 


The Cabinet then directed the continuous implementation of the Kingdom’s development projects, to achieve the aspirations of citizens in line with the priorities and programmes of the Economic Recovery Plan.


The Cabinet noted the discussion that took place with the Council of Representative's Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, and authorised the Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to take appropriate measures regarding a draft law with regards to amending some provisions related to social insurance and support for low-income families.


In recognition of International Anti-Corruption Day, the Cabinet emphasised the importance of strengthening oversight and the adoption of initiatives to consolidate transparency and accountability across government workstreams, and achieve the Kingdom's development goals. The Cabinet expressed its thanks to the Ministry of Interior for its efforts in combatting corruption.


The Cabinet discussed a number of memorandums during the meeting with the following outcomes:


The approval of the following memorandums:


1- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law amending some provisions of the decree-law regarding medals. 


The amendments aim to achieve the royal directives of His Majesty the King, by creating two police medals to be awarded to officers for exceptional performance in which they showed courage, valour and performed their duties honestly and faithfully.


2- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law naming the Minister of Finance and National Economy as the minister responsible for carrying out the functions of the shareholder in Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat).


3- A memorandum by the Minister of Interior regarding the continued digitalization of services provided by the Ministry and its various agencies, by issuing the certificate of good conduct electronically.


4- A memorandum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the Ministry’s ten-year strategic plan, which focuses on 15 points to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s foreign policy, its effective diplomacy and its future direction, in order to enhance the Kingdom’s regional and international standing.


The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

1- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the manufacturing sector strategy for the years 2022-2026, which consists of 5 main pillars and includes 23 projects designed to increase the contribution of the manufacturing sector to GDP and increase Bahraini manufacturing exports.


The Cabinet then took note of Ministerial reports regarding; the official visit to the United Arab Emirates, the opening of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Dubai, Bahrain’s participation in the Special Session of the World Health Assembly (WHA), the Global Manufacturing and industrialisation Summit at Expo 2020 Dubai, the 24th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, as well as the 114th and 115th meetings of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization.
