Manama, Feb. 19 (BNA): Terror Crime Prosecution Chief Advocate General Chancellor Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi said the Fourth High Criminal Court sentenced today six suspects for training on making and using weapons and explosives and possessing explosive devices as well as materials used in making them. Three suspects were sentenced to life in jail and fined BD 300. One suspect was handed seven years in prison, another one five years and the sixth one was sentenced to five years in prison and fined BD 300. The court also ruled to revoke the Bahraini citizenship of five suspects and confiscate the seized items.

The Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) received a notification that a group of terrorists had travelled to Iran and Iraq to receive military training on using weapons and making explosives to commit terror crimes in Bahrain. Investigations showed that one of the suspects facilitated to another one travelling to Iraq in 2017 to receive military training at Hizbollah camps there. The suspect also received other military training in 2018 at the Iranian Revolutionary Guard camps in Iran on making bombs as well as heavy and hand weapons in order to commit terrorist crimes in the Kingdom of Bahrain, kill policemen, terrorise the security officers and citizens and undermine the kingdom's security.

The first suspect also recruited another one to set up warehouses to store weapons and bomb-making materials. He also tasked him to transport the materials used in making bombs. Four suspects, who are at large in Iran, are coordinating with the terrorist elements via electronic programmes to facilitate operations for them, incite them to receive training and provide them with support to carry out the terrorist acts.

The Public Prosecution relied in its investigation on verbal and technical evidences, including the prosecution witnesses and the suspects' confession. The suspects were referred to the High Criminal Court which heard the case in the presence of the suspects' lawyers and issued its afore-mentioned verdict after providing the suspects with all legal guarantees.
