Manama, Aug. 15 (BNA): Supreme Council for Youth and Sports second deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee honorary president Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa after Bahrain won the West Asian Football Federation Championship (WAFF2019), held in Iraq.
Bahrain clinched the prestigious trophy for the first time after defeating Iraq 1-0 the hosts country in the final match held at Karbala International Stadium on Wednesday in front of a 30,000 full-house crowd.
Shaikh Isa commended the players for their dedication and determination, which enabled them to triumph, and also noted the contributions of the team’s administrative and technical staff. He expressed his congratulations to His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
BOC secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf asserted the significant role of His Majesty’s Representative for Charity and Youth Sports, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in this historic achievement. He noted the continued support of SCYS first deputy chairman and BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa as well as the efforts of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) led by its president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
