Manama, July 29 (BNA): Northern Governor Ali bin Al-Sheikh Abdulhussein Al-Asfoor today held a remote meeting with 44 heads and representatives of community centres (maatams) to discuss compliance with the health protocols set by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating COVID-19 during the Ashoora season.

He expressed deepest thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, hailing directives to reopen mosques and community centres, in accordance with the health protocols.

He conveyed greetings and good wishes from the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, stressing the importance of adherence to the health protocols during Ashoora.

The Northern Governor highlighted the recommendations cited in last year’s Ashoora report to mitigate the fallout of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and avert the spread of the pandemic.

He urged heads of community centres to ban any gatherings which were the direct cause of the surge of COVID-19 cases during last year’s Ashoora season.

The virtual session was attended by Deputy Northern Governor Khalid Rabia Senan Al Dosary and other officials.
