Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA): The Gulf region is well capable of solving its issues on its own, Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa has said.

The minister lauded the role of the Emir of Kuwait in solving the Qatar crisis.

“Efforts have been exerted since the beginning to solve the Qatar crisis, and His Highness the Emir of Kuwait was at the forefront to solve the crisis and we wish them well,” the minister told the media on the sidelines of the 15th Manama Dialogue, the international security conference held annually in the Bahraini capital.

The minister said that the Manama Dialogue aims to highlight the Kingdom's attitudes towards the various issues in the region to the participating countries from all over the world.

Shaikh Khalid added that Bahrain was looking forward to the announcement by Saudi Arabia within days of the date of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit.

“This is a positive step forward. Our leaders have regularly met for the sake of the region,” he said.

The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The GCC summit is usually held in December.
