Manama, Jun 27 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh paid tribute to Bahraini women, hailing their active community contributions and role in civil society institutions, voluntary and charity works.
He commended women-led societies and institutions and community efforts, describing the Kingdom of Bahrain as a role model in charity and community works.
Al Saleh was speaking as he received Awal Women Society Chairperson Nusrat Al Najjar, in the presence of Shura Council Second Deputy Chair Jameela Ali Salman.
The AWS Chairperson, who was accompanied by a number of board members, presented a number of publications and books on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their society’s establishment.
The Shura Council chairman hailed AWS efforts spanning five decades in supporting Bahraini women through their development programmes and initiatives.
Al Najjar also commended the Shura Council’s role in upgrading national laws and legislations towards promoting Bahraini women’s rights.
