Bahrain-UAE discuss enhancing energy security

Manama, Jan. 18 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan met with Emirati Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei.

 

Humaidan praised the successful launch of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023, and the wide global resonance that this important global event continues to achieve, especially with the unique opportunities it provides and a stimulating environment for exchanging experiences and uniting efforts and goals towards achieving sustainability and addressing climate change.

 

He expressed his best wishes of success in hosting The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) to the UNFCCC on November.

 

Minister Humaidan noted that the long-standing and historical depth of the Bahraini-Emirati relations is the basis for the various initiatives of cooperation and integration between the two ministries, stressing the keenness of Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry to continue strengthening these ties and integration in various fields.

He stressed that that these relations are supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President.

 

The meeting discussed the strategies and solutions to accelerate the pace of increasing the share of renewable energy resources in the total energy mix, as well as technologies and solutions to reduce the carbon in the energy production sector, in line with the sustainability goals of the two countries, and keeping pace with global movements in these important areas.

 

The two sides agreed to continue cooperation and coordination to serve the common sectors by forming joint technical task forces to achieve the desired goals and to enhance energy security.
