Manama, Sept. 19 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council (HEC) and Deputy Chairperson of HEC Board of Trustees, Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, has called for stepping up efforts to advance academic research, as well as achieve scientific sobriety and quality at higher education institutions so as to improve the quality of education in the kingdom.
She made the statements while patronising and attending the Student Welcome Week, hosted by the Ahlia University for the new students to introduce them to its faculty and academic plans, which is the first event since the resumption of in-person studying at Bahraini universities.
Dr. Shaikha Rana congratulated the Ahlia students, as well as its teaching staff and administrative on the new academic year.
She commended the university's initiative to hold an induction week to welcome its students and support them. She also advised students to select the right discipline that will qualify them to acquire knowledge, reach the highest positions and ensure a good future career.
Ahlia University President, Professor Mansoor Al-Aali, expressed thanks to Dr. Shaikha Rana for patronising and taking part in the induction week, commending the HEC's support for higher education in Bahrain, in general, and the Ahlia University, in particular.
