Bahraini-Canadian economic, trade cooperation discussed

Ottawa, Sept.16 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met, during his official visit to Canada, the Chairman of the of the Board of Directors of the Canada Arab Business Council (CABC), Dr. Mohamad Sawwaf, and the Vice-President of the Business Development and Marketing of the Canadian Commercial Corporation, Ms. Kim Douglas.


 Both meetings included discussions on enhancing economic, commercial and financial cooperation and investment partnership between Bahrain and Canada.


 The Undersecretary briefed the Canadian side on the promising Bahraini investment opportunities within the Economic Recovery Plan, as well as its strategic location, skilled human resources, logistics services, economic, financial and monetary legislation and policies.

This has led to Bahrain being ranked first, both in the Arab world and regionally, according to the Economic Freedom index issued by the Fraser Institute, he said.


The Canadian side commended the attractive Bahraini investment environment, which encourages the establishment of joint projects in various sectors, stressing their aspiration to develop economic and social ties between the two countries.
