Asian Parliamentary Assembly grants Arab Parliament observe status

Cairo, Jan.18 (BNA): The Asian Parliamentary Assembly has granted the Arab Parliament an observer status.

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly took the decision during its thirteenth session, which was held recently in the Republic of Turkey.

The move aims to strengthen  relations between the two sides, and open channels for permanent coordination and cooperation on issues of common concern, to serve the interests of the Arab and Asian peoples.

AP Speaker Adel bin Abdulrahman Al Asoomi said that the decision reflects solid long standing relations between the Arab and Asian countries, based on mutual respect, shared interests and cultural ties.  

He stressed the importance of bolstering legislative ties and joint cooperation, noting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in harnessing regional and international support to Arab causes.
