Finance Minister affirms keenness on cooperation with legislature

Manama, Oct. 5 (BNA): Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa praised constructive cooperation with the legislature to serve the nation and citizens. He said joint meetings with the legislative branch are an assertion of keenness of the executive and legislative branches to continue joint action to support plans aimed at backing the national economy to achieve the desired economic recovery and weather the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic that hit the world.


The Minister of Finance and National Economy underlined the importance of synergized efforts to maintain economic growth and ensure success of initiatives aimed at promoting financial stability. He stressed that the best option is always that with limited effect on citizens, particularly those with low income. He affirmed the government’s keenness on maintaining exclusion of 94 basic food commodities from the value-added tax (VAT) along with 1400 government services.


Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa pointed out measures taken by the government, including reducing administrative expenditure, boosting the competence of government expenditure and promoting recovery and economic growth through commitment to implementing the fiscal balance programme to achieve balance between expenditure and revenues. He underscored keenness on joint work with the legislature to preserve the course of financial stability and economic growth, create quality opportunities for citizens, maintain social subsidy for eligible citizens and continue providing quality services for citizens.
