Saudi Interior Ministry orders Jeddah lockdown, enforces earlier curfew

Riyadh, Mar. 29 (BNA):  An official source from the Saudi Ministry of Interior has stated that in implementation of additional precautionary measures to limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the following decisions were made:

First: The date of curfew in Jeddah Governorate is preset to be effective from 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, and for the period specified in the Royal Order.


Second: Suspending entry into and exit from Jeddah Governorate.

Third: The application of the suspension decision starts from 3:00 p.m. today until the end of the curfew period specified in the Royal Order.


Fourth: The suspension decision does not include groups excepted from the curfew decision, taking into consideration that the exception shall be in the narrowest scope and according to procedures and controls set by the concerned authority.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the source emphasised that continuing cooperation of all citizens and residents in implementing the precautionary measures will have the greatest impact on the success of the taken measures and enabling competent health authorities to provide the best medical care to prevent the spread of the virus and eliminate it to ensure the safety of all people.
