Bahrain, GGGI discuss cooperation in adapting to climate change effects

Manama, Jan. 22 (BNA): Oil and Environment Minister, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, received the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Green Growth Planning and Implementation Division at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Helena McLeod.

 

The minister discussed ways to enhance cooperation in green growth fields, and adaptation to the effects of climate change.

 

Dr. Bin Daina praised the level of the ongoing cooperation and partnership between the kingdom and GGGI regarding environmental matters, affirming Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen its cooperation with the relevant international organizations and institutes in the fields of environment and climate to achieve sustainable development goals.

 

The meeting reviewed cooperation through the National Adaptation Investment Plan (NAIP), which is being prepared between the Kingdom and GGGI.

 

The delegation was briefed on the NAIP's work plan, and the various programs and projects that have been implemented to enhance the efforts of Bahrain to adapt to the effects of climate change.

 

 

They also lauded the achievements of the joint programs being implemented by the two sides to embody international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals.
