National scientific research strategy outlined

Manama, Nov.9(BNA): Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary-General Scientific Research director Dr. Farzana Al-Maraghi received The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Special Advisor Albert Beckford Jones and discussed joint cooperation in the field of scientific research.

 

Dr. Al-Maraghi outlined the national strategy for scientific research, which was endorsed by Higher Education Council (HEC), aimed at setting up a national infrastructure for research governance and promoting scientific research capabilities, consolidating cooperation with academic institutions and think tanks.

 

“The HEC national strategy focuses on Bahrain’s economic and social priorities and aims, seeks to promote research and innovation”, said Dr. Al-Maraghi.

 

Dr. Jones also highlighted the AAAS objectives, which aim Advancing science, engineering and innovation throughout the world , shedding light on the research competitiveness programme.

 

The The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)  is now cooperating with the King Abdulla City for Science and Technology to promote expertise in assessing research projects.

 

Established in 1848, the AAAS  now includes 252 scientific associations and academies, serving more than 10 million people from 91 countries in the world.
