Works Minister inspects fishermen’s jetty

Manama, Jan.14 (BNA): Works Municipalities Affairs and Urban planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf has today inspected progress of work on the Duraz jetty.


The visit was in line with the directives of The projects were launched in line with directives issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.


The ministry has start work on a string of projects in various parts of Bahrain in cooperation and coordination with the Council of Representatives to enhance the standard of services for citizens countrywide.


The minister was accompanied during the inspection visit by Mp. Fatima Abbas, representative of the second constituency in the Northern Governorate, and other officials.


He said that the ministry has drawn up a comprehensive strategy to revamp fishermen’s jetties adding that the project in Duraz would serve fishermen in Duraz and other neighbouring villages.


“Once completed, the Duraz jetty would be able up to 150 fishermen” said the minister, adding that the development works cover 350 square metres out of 2.4 hectares allotted for the project.  



The project which was launched on October 23, 2019, has reached 10 percent so far. It features a resthouse for fishermen, a coastguard office, a fish market an administrative building a parking lot and other facilities. The project is expected to be complete within six months.
