Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals Dr. Ahmed Al Ansari has affirmed Bahrain's commitment to providing the best medical services that meet the requirements for the best international accreditations.

Al Ansari was speaking as he received officials from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) officials.

The visit by the Australian officials was to inspect the readiness of Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) to receive the Australian accreditation.

The CEO pointed out that this step comes to improve the standards of services provided at SMC, especially since it is the most important government medical facility.

SMC's international accreditations confirms the support that the health sector has within the vision of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

"The Australian accreditation is an evaluation process carried out by an independent external evaluation body to assess the extent to which a health facility complies with the standards previously set by the accreditation body." Al Ansari said.

"The main objective of accreditation is to develop service systems and procedures to improve the quality of health care services and thus improve the desired outcome of treatment."
