Agriculture Minister inspects Horat A'ali plant nurseries

Manama, Aug. 14 (BNA): Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak paid an inspection visit to the plant nurseries in Horat A'ali.


The minister said that the ministry is working to increase production in plant nurseries in Budaiya and Hoarat A'ali in order to continue efforts to increase the rate of afforestation in the Kingdom.


Al Mubarak confirmed that the ministry has prepared an integrated system to increase afforestation and plantations in parks, streets, public squares and intersections, in addition to intensifying plantings in all regions.


He said that the Agricultural Incubators Center in Horat A'ali produced 20,000 seedlings in two greenhouses.


“We are working on making the center a hub for implementing agricultural experiments in Bahrain, in addition to preparing it to be a station for training local competencies in the agricultural sector,” the minister said.


Al Mubarak stressed that the center comes as an implementation of the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development.


He affirmed that agriculture affairs is currently working on identifying best practices for local production of agricultural crops in line with climatic conditions and raising local production.
